ABOUT US
PREAMBLE: We, the members of the Combat Veterans Alumni Group, Incorporated (aka CVAG, and Combat Veterans Alumni Group, and Combat Veterans Alumni Group Washington D.C. Chapter), having undergone the rigors and stress of combat while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States of America, do affirm our loyalty to the United States of America and its Constitution. We support the Armed Forces of the United States of America in their missions assigned by lawful government authority. We pledge our support of any action taken to preserve, protect and defend the United States of America and its Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, to assure the liberty, freedom, and independence of the American people.

I. ORGANIZATION NAME: The organization shall be known as the Combat Veterans Alumni Group. It may also be referred to by the acronym “CVAG”. The CVAG is an approved 501(c)3 recognized by the District of Columbia Government. Mail is received at: Combat Veterans Alumni Group or CVAG at Brookland Post Office; 3401 12th Street, NE; PO Box 4477, Washington, DC 20017-9997.

II. PURPOSE: The CVAG is created to accomplish the following:

To partnership with other Veteran Organizations, State & Local Governments, Nonprofit Community and Faith Based Organizations.

To assist, foster, encourage, and promote the improvement of the condition of veterans who have undergone actual combat experience.

To promote well-being, physical and cultural improvement, personal growth and development, self-respect, self-confidence, and usefulness to him/herself and his/her family, as well as other persons who care about him/her and other veterans.

To develop and promote communication channels, which will assist veterans in maximizing self-realization and enrichment of their lives and enhance their fulfillment.

To provide support and outreach, as a group and as individuals, to encourage treatment for combat veterans who appear to be suffering from untreated stress.

To assist disabled and needy veterans, including spouses, families, dependents, or significant others, and widowed spouses, orphans, families, dependents, and significant others of deceased combat veterans.
III. MEMBERSHIP QUALIFICATIONS:

All members shall be combat veterans of the Armed Forces of the United States of America: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Space Force.

Members must be willing to attend and participate in social, recreational, and community activities sponsored by the CVAG.

Members must comply with and conform to the requirements of conduct and decorum, as described within the appropriate included Appendices.

Members shall not act, behave, or conduct themselves in any manner not conducive to the good order, proper standards, and good reputation of the CVAG.

Members may make an exception to the above provisions if they feel, for compassionate reasons, a non-combat veteran should hold membership and a majority vote is received from the Financial Members. This member may have full, if Financial, voting rights if approved.

Members may also make an exception to the above provisions if they seek a unique skill to achieve one or more of the above Purposes stated in “Section II Purposes” above. This candidate will have to receive a majority vote from the Financial Members and be considered an Honorary Member without voting privileges.
IV. ELIGIBILITY:

Any veteran that has served in a recognized US Military Combat Zone under one or more of the officially recognized United States Military Organizations or designated Organizations may apply for membership.
V. ANNUAL SUGGESTED DONATION:

Dues shall be as suggested by the Executive Board and approved by the consensus and approval of the general membership as delineated in the appropriate Appendix 4 (page 13) of these Bylaws.

The amount, procedures of collection, accounting for, and verification of money shall be as delineated in the appropriate Appendix 4 (page 13).

Requirements and procedures for any waiver of the suggested dues shall be if approved, delineated in the appropriate Appendix 4 (page 13).
